Bishop Leads Brexit Prayers at Cathedral

Bishop Stephen led prayers at Chelmsford Cathedral on Saturday 30 March, on what would have been the day after the UK left the EU.  Although the date is still undecided, the Bishop went ahead with the planned meeting saying; 'Whether you voted leave or remain, the one thing that does unite us about Brexit is a concern that our nation itself is feeling divided'. The topic of Brexit wasn't discussed but instead how we can re-establish those British values of respect and tolerance and working for the common good that the Brexit process has obscured.

A number of people joined the Bishop and media interest at this positive initiative led to both ITV and a French film crew coming to film the occasion.
